North Andover Youth Tennis

Every class is built around one idea: Meet kids where they are and give them a clear path forward.

SPARK RALLY

SPARK PERFORMANCE

Sparklers

Ages 4–6 | Foam & Red Ball · 36 ft Court

This is where it all starts. Sparklers Rally builds the athletic and social foundation young players need — on the court and in life. Classes begin with foam ball activities focused on hand-eye coordination, agility, sending and receiving, and general movement skills. Racquets are introduced gradually as players develop comfort and control.

By the end of the foam stage, players are picking up the racquet with confidence. By the time they reach red ball, they can rally back and forth with a partner, begin to direct the ball, and work cooperatively in a group. Equally important: they're learning to focus, follow directions, listen, and have fun doing it. The goal of the Sparklers program is to build a positive, lasting relationship with the tennis court.

Sparklers

Ages 4–6 | Foam & Red Ball · 36 ft Court

For young players showing early athletic aptitude, the Sparklers Performance track runs during the same session on dedicated upper courts. The progression is the same — foam to red ball — but with higher repetition, more structured movement challenges, and earlier emphasis on directional intent.

Coaches identify players who are ready for more: more reps, more precision, more challenge. The environment stays joyful and age-appropriate, but the bar is higher. Players in this track move through the foam stage faster and begin cooperative rallying and rudimentary ball placement ahead of their peers. Entry is coach-directed. No parent requests, no assessments — coaches move kids when they see it.

Spark 7–9

Ages 7-9 | Orange Ball · 60 ft Court

Spark Rally 7–9 is for players who are new to tennis or still building the foundational technique and consistency needed to work with other players. Classes run on a 60-foot orange ball court, where the shorter distance and slower ball give players the time they need to develop real strokes.

The primary focus is stroke mechanics — groundstrokes, volleys, and serve introduction — alongside continued development of hand-eye coordination and general athleticism. Players work toward the ability to rally cooperatively with a partner, building the consistency and control that opens the door to more structured play.

There's no rush here. The goal is to get the technique right and build confidence that lasts.

Spark 7–9

Ages 7-9 | Orange Ball · 60 ft Court

Spark Performance 7–9 is for players who have established their technique and can sustain a cooperative rally with a partner. The focus shifts from building strokes to applying them with intent — placing the ball, using proper footwork to get in position, and recovering for the next shot.

Players in this class are engaged, coachable, and a positive presence in the group. Serve development becomes a priority. Match play on the 60-foot orange court is a regular part of every session. This is where tennis starts to feel like a real game.

Players are also introduced to the concept of spin — beginning to understand how topspin shapes the ball and creates margin. This is the foundation; the full development of spin happens at the next level.

Players are evaluated on court awareness, competitive readiness, and their ability to elevate those around them — not just their individual skill level.

Spark 10-12

Ages 10-12 | Green Ball · Full Court

Spark Rally 10–12 is for players in this age group who are new to tennis or still developing the foundational technique needed to play on a full-sized court. Classes use a green ball — slightly slower than standard — giving players the time and space to build real strokes without the ball getting away from them.

The focus is tennis-specific: building groundstrokes, developing a reliable serve, learning to move and recover on a full court. The athleticism work at this stage is no longer general — it's about footwork patterns, split steps, and positioning that are specific to the game. Players work toward consistent rally play and the ability to sustain points with a partner.

This is the foundation stage on the biggest stage. Get the technique right here, and the next step takes care of itself.

Spark 10-12

Ages 10-12 | Green Ball · Full Court

Spark Performance 10–12 is for players who have established their strokes and are ready to play with intent on a full court. The primary focus at this level is adding a second dimension to the game: spin. Players develop topspin groundstrokes, learn to shape the ball with purpose, and begin building the shot tolerance and footwork required to play through a full point.

Serve mechanics are refined. Match play is a regular part of every session. Ready players begin experimenting with standard yellow balls — a natural step as technique and athleticism reach that threshold. Tactically, players work on patterns of play, recognizing opportunities, and executing under pressure.

This is competitive readiness. Players here are learning what it means to compete — not just to hit the ball, but to win points.

Spark Teens

Ages 13+ | Yellow Ball · Full Court

Spark Teens Rally is for players in middle school or high school who are new to tennis or just getting serious about the game — players who want to learn, compete a little, and actually enjoy the process. The JV level is the target: understanding the game well enough to hold your own and have fun doing it.

Classes are built around teaching the full game — groundstrokes, serve, net play, how points are constructed — while building confidence through match play and supervised points. The environment is social by design. These kids are here to learn tennis and to have a great time doing it. The relationships they build with each other and with the coaching staff are part of what makes this program worth showing up for.

This is tennis that sticks. The kind of program players come back to.

Spark Teens

Ages 13+ |‍ ‍Yellow Ball · Full Court

Spark Teens Performance is for high school players — or 13-year-olds preparing for high school tennis — who are ready to compete. These players already have a game: they can vary spin, speed, and placement, serve with consistency, and play points with tactical intent. The goal here is to sharpen what they have and prepare them to perform when it counts.

Sessions are competitive and high-energy. Match play, live ball drills, and game-situation training are the core of every class. Players work on executing under pressure, reading opponents, and making smart decisions at full pace. Coaches challenge them — and push them to challenge each other.

Fun and competitive aren't opposites. This program is both. Players leave every session better than they walked in.

Tournament Training

Ages 12+ | Yellow Ball · Full Court

Tournament Training is for experienced competitive players who are committed to getting better — players logging 8 or more hours on court per week and competing in at least one tournament per month. This is a single group built around shared goals, not split by pathway or level.

Sessions are high-intensity from start to finish. High-rep drilling, competitive points, structured match play, and on-court conditioning are all part of every class. Coaches push these players hard — technically, tactically, and mentally. The environment is driven by the players themselves: everyone in the room is chasing the same goals, and that energy is felt from the first ball to the last.

Tournament Training is led by Spark's top coaches — all of whom competed at the Division I college level. Players get world-class instruction from coaches who know what it takes to compete at a high level because they've done it.

For players who are serious about the game and want a program that matches that energy.
