Gym Etiquette
-
Be respectful of others. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Avoid crowding or hovering over other members. Do not scream, grunt or STARE. Do not block someone’s view in the mirror. Be sure to check if the equipment is free before using it (squat racks, bench press, etc).
Re-rack weights when you are finished. This goes for dumbbells and clearing the barbell when you are finished. Also, when you grab a set - do not stand in front of the other weights blocking others from getting to the DB’s.
Be efficient. Do not monopolize a piece of equipment for more than 15 minutes (excluding cardio machines).
Wipe down machines/weights when you are finished. This is not optional. You use it, you clean it.
Don’t drop the weights. If you’re strong enough to get them over your head, you’re strong enough to get them back down to the floor.
Appropriate fitness attire is required. Shirts are required at all times.
No gym bags on the fitness floor. Please utilize our locker room. You are welcome to bring your own lock. Bags and coats need to be stored in cubbies or hung up.
Be smart about your movements. Do not attempt weights or movements you do not know how to safely execute. Choose a weight with which you can control through the full range of motion. Find a spotter when needed.
Practice good hygiene. Please wash your gym clothes, use deodorant for body odor, and avoid masking bad smells with cologne or perfume.
Mirrors are to check for good form, not for selfies. We see you.
Under no circumstances are you to video or photograph other gym goers. This is a place to learn and grow, you never know the circumstances of others, be kind.
